SHANIA'S COUNTRY
LEAVING IS THE ONLY WAY OUT (Her best)
WHO'S BED HAS YOUR BOOTS BEEN UNDER
COAT OF MANY COLORS
DANCE WITHE ONE THAT BROUGHT YOU
NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW
RAINING ON OUR LOVE
THE WOMAN IN ME (NEEDS A MAN IN YOU)
WHAT MAY YOU SAY THAT
WHEN HE LEAVES YOU
YOU WIN MY LOVE (borderline Country)
I have just been on Youtube for several hours looking for Country songs by Shania Twain. I must have listened to at least parts of 50 songs, and only found these 10. One I consider to be borderline Country. If the rest of her music holds true to this ratio, that means 20% of her music is Country. In comparison, all of Loretta Lynn's music is Country. Same is true for Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, Connie Smith, Jan Howard, Jean Shepard and others.
I think the evidence shows that Shania Twain is not a Country artist. So why should anyone give her a lifetime artist award? It's obvious CMT doesn't care what Country really is. Giving her an award for the Country songs she did, fine. But a lifetime award, that's just plain baloney. Most of her songs do not come close to being Country.
Country folks need to stand up and say enough is enough. We want Nashville to do Country. We want Country radio stations to play Country.

I am not fond of her really. She lives out in the Valley I worked in...Of course she is very well liked by most folks. I like the song "Raining on our Love". But, not fond of songs that are not ballets. I like music I can sit and listen too...if I want to dance with a special man, I still like it slow. I do agree a Lifetime Artist Award is not something I think she should get, as she really is not so country...She may do better going to country-pop.
