TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY CASH
by Tom Lineaweaver
by Tom Lineaweaver
Johnny Cash was my first favorite Country artist, so much so I tried to look him. That's when people started calling me "Elvis." Apparently my hair didn't get quite right.
The first book I ever bought, well my dad bought for me, through Schoolastic Books, was a book about Johnny Cash. In that book was a picture of Johnny, his first wife, and she was holding Rosanne as a baby. I got the thought she would be my wife. To have Johnny Cash as my father-in-law would have been special.
At that time of my life, everything was Johnny Cash. I felt like I was in heaven when the Johnny Cash Show came on. I didn't miss one show, or tried not to. In my privacy, I called myself Tommy Cash. Little did I know he had a younger brother named "Tommy." I even drew pictures of me as Tommy Cash on stage which I called, "The Tommy Cash Show." Of course I would sing Johnny's music.
Of course, the most special thing was the music. At first I heard the most popular songs like "Ring of Fire." As time went on, I found a CD that had the song, "Story of a Broken Heart," which became my favorite...
I hope you'll enjoy this collection of Johnny Cash songs.
CRY, CRY, CRY
HEY PORTER
I WALK THE LINE
GET RHYTHM
DON'T TAKE YOUR GUNS TO TOWN
A THING CALLED LOVE
WERE YOU THERE (WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD)
(THERE'LL BE) PEACE IN THE VALLEY (FOR ME)
DADDY SANG BASS
UNDERSTAND YOUR MAN
ORANGE BLOSSUM SPECIAL
ONEY
GUESS THINGS HAPPEN THAT WAY
I STILL MISS SOMEONE
I PROMISE YOU
PAPA WAS A GOOD MAN
JACKSON (w/ June Carter Cash)
RING OF FIRE
MAN IN BLACK
HEY PORTER
I WALK THE LINE
GET RHYTHM
DON'T TAKE YOUR GUNS TO TOWN
A THING CALLED LOVE
WERE YOU THERE (WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD)
(THERE'LL BE) PEACE IN THE VALLEY (FOR ME)
DADDY SANG BASS
UNDERSTAND YOUR MAN
ORANGE BLOSSUM SPECIAL
ONEY
GUESS THINGS HAPPEN THAT WAY
I STILL MISS SOMEONE
I PROMISE YOU
PAPA WAS A GOOD MAN
JACKSON (w/ June Carter Cash)
RING OF FIRE
MAN IN BLACK
Hope you've enjoyed this tribute to Johnny Cash. And there is so much more of his music. If you did, please call your local Country radio station and tell them you want to hear Johnny Cash.
