HUMAN BEINGS NEED HUMAN BEINGS
by Tom Lineaweaver
So often I feel lonely, and I share that with others, so often someone says, "God is there for you." But, recently I went through, and I'm still going through, a painful episode of my life, and I sure wish I had someone to hold me and comfort me. God doesn't do that.
There are times when we need a human touch to make us feel better, as Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette say in these 2 songs.
In Tammy's song, some of the lyrics are, "I am a Christian Lord but I'm a woman too."
Are Christians supposed to ignore the needs of the flesh? I don't believe so. In the beginning when the Creator made everything he said, "It's not good for the man to be alone." So, he made Eve. The Creator established how it should be between men and women, but, as with every other thing, man perverted what the Creator established.
Alan Jackson does a song that mentions "pleasures of the flesh." The fact is, to be emotionally healthy, we need those pleasures of the flesh...
Much of Country music is about human beings needing other human beings. Even the cheating songs.
Here's a song by Moe Bandy and Janie Fricke that explains a "Cheating Situation."
Did you hear the part about there being "no love at home." If your needs are not being met at home, you're needs don't go away. What is one supposed to do?
What do you do when you lose someone special? The solution in Country music most often is drinking...
Or, maybe you just cry...
When you lose someone special, what on earth can you do about the memories...
Let's face it, God can't do everything for us. Often we need another human being in our lives. Much of Country music is based on what happens when we don't have another human being in our lives.
Life alone is miserable. See Ecclesiastes 4.8-12. It's torture according to 1 Corinthians 9 in the Amplified Bible. When someone says "God is with you," have they ever read Scripture on the subject. Adam had God, but God said it wasn't good for Adam to be alone.
If God believed what so many Christians do, "You have God," and if he applied that belief to Adam, there would be no human race.
